Ho Chi Minh City tax is approaching the target of collecting 1 million billion VND, one facility has crossed the finish line

As for the whole industry, up to now Ho Chi Minh City Tax has reached 77.6% of the budget revenue target of 1 million billion VND.

Why is the budget collection target 2 months ahead?

At the end of November 4, Ho Chi Minh City Tax Office 12 held a conference to summarize tax work for the first 10 months of 2026 and deploy key tasks for November.

Mr. Tran Minh Nha, Head of Tax Base 12, said that the total budget revenue in the first 10 months of Tax Base 12 reached more than 7,800 billion VND, reaching 102.2% of the 2026 ordinance estimate and reaching 84.5% of the target estimate.

Of which, revenue from the economic sector reached more than 4,500 billion VND, equal to 122% of the year's ordinance estimate, reaching 100.8% of the target estimate for 2026. Among the revenues, revenue from land use fees reached the highest rate, increasing by 145.5% over the same period in 2025.

Mr. Nha said that for the business sector, Base Tax 12 has strengthened supervision of declaration work and urged payment of arising amounts, payment of tax debt, and increased inspection at taxpayers' headquarters to create revenue for the budget.

In the first 10 months of the year, this place inspected 1,189 businesses, with arrears of taxes and fines of 312.8 billion VND, of which 268.044 billion VND was paid, reaching 86% of the total revenue collected through inspection.

At the same time, Base Tax 12 strengthens the review and handling of individuals doing e-commerce businesses, enhances the processing of input invoices of business households, and collects from comparing the difference between buying and selling.

For business households, Tax Base 12 has reviewed the entire database, compared business registration data, tax administration data and actual operating status, reviewed households that have been registered but have not declared, and verified cases of cessation, retirement, relocation or change of profession.

Focus on reviewing revenue for at-risk groups, making a list of business households and individual businesses with low declared revenue, unusual fluctuations or inconsistent with the actual scale of operations for inspection and verification. Industries with the potential to generate large revenues, especially services, catering, retail, construction, transportation and e-commerce businesses, are also under increased management.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Giang Van Hien, Deputy Head of Ho Chi Minh City Tax, said that in the cumulative 10 months, the budget revenue of Ho Chi Minh City Tax reached 620,810 billion VND, equal to 99% of the ordinance estimate and increased 21.7% over the same period.

This revenue is equal to 77.6% of the target of 800,000 billion VND that Ho Chi Minh City Tax assigned in the overall target of 1 million billion VND. Although the results are positive, it also shows that the tax industry's workload in the last 2 months of the year is still very large.

To complete the target of 800,000 billion VND, Ho Chi Minh City Tax still has to collect about 179,000 billion VND in the last 2 months of the year, an average of nearly 90,000 billion VND per month.

The fact that Base Tax 12 completed the ordinance estimate 2 months in advance is an encouraging result, demonstrating the sense of responsibility, closeness to the area and efforts of all civil servants.

"For Base Tax 12, the target associated with the target of 1 million billion VND is 9,259 billion VND. After collecting 7,821 billion VND in 10 months, this place needs to collect an additional 1,438 billion VND in November and December, an average of 719 billion VND per month. This is a very high task, but there is a basis for implementation," Mr. Hien said.

At the same time, Mr. Hien proposed that Base Tax 12 carefully review well-founded revenue sources to strive further towards the VND 10,000 billion mark.
